Why should I take swim lessons?
Swim lessons should be high on your priority list along with food and shelter. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children 14 and younger. It is the NUMBER ONE cause of accidental death for children under the age of 5. Taking swim lessons significantly reduces the risk of drowning.
Is my child too young?
NO! The earlier you start lessons, the better. Even babies can swim. Often time parents hesitate to start their little ones in lessons “too early”, but there is no such thing as too early! At a young age, your child can learn to float, breath control, submersions, swim skills and much more. Babies are in water for 9 months before they are born and have a natural affinity for it. The earlier you start, the faster they learn and the less likely they will fear the water.
What level do I sign-up for?
If after you have read through our class levels and you are still unsure of which level to sign-up for, just give us a call. We will be happy to help you.
How many lessons does it take for my child to learn how to swim?
This is the question that has no answer. It will take as many lessons as it takes! Parents must keep realistic expectations of their child’s progression in class. Every child moves and his/her own pace. This is how they build the appropriate relationship with the water. It’s important to celebrate what looks like small victories i.e. blowing bubbles, kicking on their own, submersions, etc. Though it might look like small progress to you, those are big moments in the learn-to-swim world!
Should my child do a group class or private lessons?
If your child is fearful or nervous around the water, private lessons are a great choice. Otherwise please call us and we can help you choose the right class options.
How many students per class?
There are only 3 – 5 swimmers per class.
Do I have to get in the water?
A parent or guardian is only in the pool during the parent child class. For all other classes, parents will remain in the waiting area.
Do you work with children that are afraid of the water?
