Makeup and Enrollment Policies
Tom’s Dive and Swim is not a rolling based enrollment system. This means that every session we offer has a start and end date. You can either call us or go online to make sure that you are enrolled for any and all sessions that you would like! What’s great about the end date; you will receive a report card after each session. This will allow you to see how your child is doing in their specific class level.

We offer makeup lessons for those who miss a class due to sickness or injury of either the parent or child. We cannot offer a makeup lesson due to pre planned events or appointments. For an 8 class session (Sundays or Weekdays) we offer one free makeup for two classes missed. For our 4 class Saturday sessions we offer one makeup for one missed class.

Group Class vs Private Lessons
When you swim with Tom’s our top goal is to provide the best learning environment for every child individually. Group lessons are a wonderful option for a long term swim goal. A lot of children do great when they see peers trying and working on the same skills as them! We have a 5 kid limit for our group classes to ensure that each child can receive one on one time. Private lessons are a great option for those looking for a more personalized lesson or for those who are first time swimmers. This provides an entire 30 minute one on one lesson to best meet your swimming needs! If you have any further questions or need help deciding what will be best for your kiddo please call (512) 451-3425 or email: sarah@tomsscuba.com

Parent/Child Classes

This class is for all swimmers ages 6 months – 2 years old. One parent or guardian must be in the pool with the child. Often time parents hesitate to start their little ones in lessons “too early”, but there is no such thing as too early! At a young age, your child can learn to float, breath control, submersions, swim skills and much more. The earlier you start, the faster they learn and the less likely they will fear the water.

Schedule and Price

We have three scheduling options for the group classes during the spring. The weekday classes are two days a week for four weeks. You can choose either Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays. We also offer a one day a week class held on Sunday and Saturday mornings. Each class is 30 minutes long.

Requirements

We do require that each child wear a swim diaper until they are fully potty-trained.

Besides learning how to swim, this time in the water has many other benefits:
  • The intimate contact of skin to skin between the parent and child in the water creates a strong bond between the two.
  • Studies have shown that children/toddlers/infants that start swimming lessons at an early age can develop both mentally and physically stronger and quicker than those who do not. This is because they are able to exercise muscles that they would otherwise rarely use at that age.
  • Participating in lessons also teaches them how to follow instructions. This will promote better behavior at home and in school as they get older.
  • The combination of our warm water relaxing the babies and the exercise of swimming will both increase their appetite and promote better sleeping and eating patterns.

Preschool Group Classes

Preschool classes are open to swimmers aged 2-5 years old.

We have three scheduling options for the group classes during the spring. The weekday classes are two days a week for four weeks. You can choose either Mondays & Wednesdays, or Tuesdays & Thursdays. In the Summer our classes are Monday - Thursday for 2 weeks. We also offer a one day a week class held on Sunday and Saturday mornings. Each class is 30 minutes long. Sometimes parents are unsure whether or not to start swim lessons for their youngsters. Well now is the time! The longer you wait, the more difficult it is for your child to develop their comfort in the water. Along with swim skills, it is imperative that you child begins to learn about water safety as well.

If you have a child that is fearful or hesitant of the water, no worries. Our team of well trained teachers can handle anything! Seriously! It is usually harder on nervous parents than it is on the kids.

If you have a child that is fearful or hesitant of the water, no worries. Our team of well trained teachers can handle anything! Seriously! It is usually harder on nervous parents than it is on the kids. How fast will my child learn? Parents must also keep realistic expectations of their child’s progression in class. Every child moves and learns at his/her own pace. This is how they build the appropriate relationship with the water. It’s important to celebrate what looks like small victories i.e. blowing bubbles, kicking on their own, submersions, etc. Though it might look like small progress to you, those are big moments in the learn-to-swim world!
