Spring Is Here — Time to Get Back in the Water

David Glasco   Apr 26, 2026

Spring has a way of resetting things. The days get longer, the water warms, and before long you start thinking about your next dive.

For many divers, winter becomes a kind of surface interval. Time in the water slows down, and the rhythm fades a bit. That’s normal. What’s also true is that it doesn’t take much to come back.

A few dives.
A quick refresher.
A little time to settle back into your gear.

And then it returns.

Your breathing slows. Your buoyancy feels more natural. Movements smooth out. Instead of thinking through each step, you’re simply there again—present in the water.

Getting Back Into It

The start of the season isn’t about doing something big. It’s about doing something simple, consistently.

Getting back in early—whether in the pool or open water—sets the tone for everything that follows. It rebuilds comfort and confidence in a way that carries forward into every dive after that.

Divers who take this step tend to notice the difference quickly—more control, better awareness, less effort, and more enjoyment.

It’s not dramatic. It’s just better.

What It Leads To

Once you’re back in the water, everything else opens up.

Training becomes more meaningful.
Travel becomes more enjoyable.
Time with other divers becomes something you look forward to again.

This is also when many divers choose to continue building their skills—not because they have to, but because it enhances the experience. A little more control and awareness goes a long way.

Start Simple

If there’s one idea to carry into the season, it’s this: start simple. Just get back in.

You don’t need a big plan. You just need a little time in the water to let everything come back.

From there, the season takes care of itself.
