Certified divers ready for a quarry environment
Quarry diving is a different feel than open lakes or the ocean. Open Water certification or higher is expected, and the wrecks give newer and experienced divers alike plenty to explore.
People who want a story to tell afterward
Non-stinging freshwater jellyfish and a sunken Cessna are not things you find on every dive trip. It’s a memorable one.

A Quarry Built for Exploration Diving.
The Scuba Ranch is a privately operated, spring-fed quarry with multiple wrecks and a sunken Cessna positioned throughout the site. Visibility runs up to about 25 feet. Expect a full day: diving broken up by a cookout lunch with the group, similar in structure to Mammoth Lake but with a different environment and a different set of things to see.
One thing worth knowing ahead of time: the quarry has a resident population of freshwater jellyfish. They don’t sting and most divers find swimming through them to be one of the highlights of the dive rather than something to avoid.
A Longer Drive, but a Better Day for It.
Scuba Ranch is one of the farther day trips on the calendar, which makes the group even more worth it. Tom’s and the Austin Aquanauts have been organizing trips like this since 2013.

Members pay a lower price, but any certified diver can join this trip.
