Mammoth Lake’s varied depths give newer divers plenty to explore in the shallows while more experienced divers can push toward the deeper attractions. Open Water certification or higher is expected.

A Day Built Around Exploration, Not a Schedule.
Mammoth Lake is privately operated and set up specifically for divers, with training platforms and staged attractions spread across more than 60 acres. Expect two dives over the course of the day with a break for lunch in between. Visibility varies with depth and recent weather, generally 5 to 45 feet, so bring a light if you want to get a good look at the details on the C-130 and the smaller staged wrecks.
This is a day trip, not an overnight, so plan for the drive down and back on the same day. Exact meeting time and carpool coordination are shared closer to the event date through the Austin Aquanauts calendar.

No. Non-members are welcome at the non-member price. Many divers try Mammoth Lake before deciding whether to join the club.
Open Water Diver certification (SSI, PADI, NAUI, or equivalent) is the general expectation. If you’re unsure whether your certification and experience are a good fit, call Tom’s before you sign up.
It’s about a three-hour drive from Austin to Lake Jackson, TX. Carpools are often arranged informally through the club; ask when you RSVP.
Yes, a grill-out lunch is included as part of the day.
Bring what you have. Tom’s can help you rent or fill any gaps in your kit before the trip. Air fills at the lake are paid separately on site.
