Certified divers doing the cleanup dives
Bring your own full SCUBA gear and spend the morning pulling debris off the lake bottom. Club members can pick up a tank at Tom’s at no charge.
Volunteers who’d rather stay dry
No certification or gear needed to help sort and haul debris from the boat or the bank. The event covers eleven Travis County parks around the lake, not just the water.
A genuinely all-ages morning
This is a community event first and a dive event second. Kids and non-divers are welcome, and it runs rain or shine.
Two Boats, a Tight Schedule, and a Lot of Trash.
Arrive with your gear ready by 7:30 AM. Both boats leave the dock at Just For Fun Boat Rentals promptly at 8:00 AM, so plan to be there early rather than right on time. Cleanup runs from 8:00 AM to noon, with divers working the lake bottom while shoreline volunteers cover the surrounding parks. Donuts and donut holes are served on the boat to keep everyone going.
Once both boats are back and unloaded, the group sticks around in the parking lot for a few minutes of dive-related giveaways. If you want to grab a meal afterward and swap dive stories, talk to your boat captain about where the group is meeting.
Five Tons a Year Doesn’t Clear Itself.
The Lake Travis Cleanup has grown into the largest event of its kind in Texas because it works: divers can reach debris no shoreline crew ever could, and shoreline volunteers cover far more ground than divers could reach alone. Together the event clears an average of five tons of trash from the lake bottom and the parks around it every year.
$20 of every $25 supports the Colorado River Alliance
Registration fees go directly toward the Alliance’s work protecting Lake Travis and the Highland Lakes, on top of the trash pulled out on the day itself.
No membership or certification required
Divers, shoreline volunteers, and families are all welcome, member or not. It’s one of the most accessible events on the Aquanauts’ calendar.

Do I need to be a certified diver to take part?
No. This event welcomes both certified divers doing the underwater cleanup and volunteers helping from the boat or the shoreline around the lake. It’s a genuinely all-ages event.
What does the $25 registration fee cover?
Of the $25, $20 is a donation to the Colorado River Alliance in support of Lake Travis and the Highland Lakes. Voluntary tips for the boat captain and crew, and any meal costs afterward, are on the individual.
What do I need to bring or sign?
Divers need their own full SCUBA gear. Everyone needs to sign a liability release for Tom’s Dive & Swim and a separate release for Just For Fun Boat Rentals; links to both are sent in your registration confirmation email.
What time should I arrive, and when does the boat leave?
Arrive with gear ready by 7:30 AM. Both boats leave the dock promptly at 8:00 AM, and the cleanup runs until noon.
Is there a discount for Austin Aquanauts members?
Club members can pick up a tank at Tom’s at no charge. The registration donation applies to all participants regardless of membership.
Is food provided?
Donuts and donut holes are served on the boat. If you’d like to grab a meal with the group afterward, ask your boat captain where everyone is meeting.
What’s the refund policy?
There are no refunds within 7 days of the event.
